Things You Can Do To Help

1. Reduce, Reuse, Recycle

2. Buy locally produced meats and vegetables (That really can't happen cause most of our food are imported from other countries)

3. Bring your own water bottle to work. (Don't waste the paper cups)

4. Inflate your car tires, it increases your gas mileage (NOT inflating your OWN SPARE TIRES by drinking)

5. Turn down the hot water when bathing and switch off the heater after bathing - reduces electricity bills by alot

LIVE Earth

Tomorrow will be the start of the LIVE Earth performances from all 7 continents of the world (Shanghai, Sydney, Johannesburg, London, Brazil, Japan and the United States) from 7 pm to Sunday 7 pm. Yup 24 hours of performances with famous stars like Red Hot Chili Peppers, Madonna, Bon Jovi Etc. What's the purpose of this performance? It's the create awareness that our Earth is in danger of Global Warming.
As might have noticed, that the weather in the world has gone haywire, you see flowers blooming in winter, snow in summer for those with 4 seasons. For Singapore, not much difference except that it's getting hotter and of course, pray that we don't get hit by the haze from Indonesia. I remembered there was one day that the haze was really bad till I can't really see object which are 50 metres away.
Now does this concert really create any awareness about global warming? I must applaud Al Gore for his efforts in creating awareness about global warming in his talks and even has a documentary movie on it. But what I feel that people are just going to watch the concert JUST FOR THE SAKE OF WATCHING. After this concert, everyone will just forget about what's conservation of Earth. It should have some documentary in between the breaks to educate the viewers. I think it will get some message across.
Well in Singapore I see some start in conservation of plastic bags. Environmental bags are the latest fashion among aunties! I have started reject plastic bags when buying some small stuffs, so you guys should get started too!

Macau Day 3

Last day of Macau, still having our big appetite, went to this little shop to eat:



Authentic Shark's Fin Noodles!! Never seen this before! Being curious, wanted to try. This shop is famous for their cheap shark's fin noodles.

Day 2 Macau (Night)

As the sky turns dark, we headed to the Macau Tower (澳門旅遊塔). Soaring 338 metres above the city, the Macau Tower is the 10th highest freestanding tower in the world and the 8th tallest in Asia. I just love to look at the bird's eye view of the cities at night cause looking at the lights, they look like pretty christmas trees and stars. To get into the tower, you must pay a fee. If I remembered correctly it's about 75 HKD per person. The ticket allows you to go up to two floors, the 58th floor, which is the air-conditioned indoor observation lounge, and the 61st floor which is the outdoor observation deck.

Observing from the 58th floor is breathtaking, city lights are so beautiful! And on the deck, there are these glass floors where you can look how high the tower is beneath your feet, quite scary for ppl who are scared of heights. But too bad it was raining before that so the floor was full of water droplets.


We went on to the 61st floor for a view, nothing much to see in the night except for a few stars in the sky. It's really really windy and cold there!

After Macau Tower, we went to try our luck in the Casinos, being in the land of Casinos, it would be a pity not to have a look at their casinos. Their casinos are just damn majestic, almost looked like a palace! Played the slot machines, haha won some at first then later lost.
We got hungry, we wanted to try this potato dish at a restaurant "Solmar". Hell took us a damn long time to find it. After lots of wrong turns and directions, we almost gave up. Then suddenly lp wanted to walked into another road and we found it! A woman's 6th sense is really good when they are hungry......

Day 2 Macau (part 4)

Next stop is back to Coloane Village (路環). Went to visit some of their historical buildings. One is the Chapel of St. Francis Xavier (聖方濟各聖堂).

The village is a quiet and serene place, away from the lifestyle of the city life. There you can watch the sea although the water seems really brownish. Lol. But you can feel that it has a laid back lifestyle.

Walked to the center of the village to a fountain. Dunno what fountain was it, maybe those who watched korean dramas might know?


The main draw of being in Coloane Village, is this: Lord Stow's Bakery PORTUGUESE EGG TART. OMG it produces the best egg tart I ever ate - FRESH! I just love the soft egg mash and the crispy pastry. Lovely! OH and I was so eager to taste it, I just gobbled the whole egg tart forgetting about taking a picture of it! Sorry guys! But if you are ever in Macau, this is a MUST TRY.

Next stop: Senado Square

We are now in Senado Square where it is the main tourist attraction. There's lots and lots of people there. Beautiful buildings.... when I came back and look at the photos, I felt that I was holidaying in Europe instead. It's also seem to be the main shopping district with lots and lots of apparel and clothes shop.

At the end of Senado Square is the Ruins of St Paul (大三巴), the historical trademark of Macau. But we didn't get to explore much cause the museum is already closed. Very romantic place kekeke.

Day 2 Macau (Part 3)

This baby is so cute I just have to take a picture of her. After our nice lunch took another bus to Taipa (氹仔) for other glorious food. And that is where the famous "Pork Chop Bun" is located. I would say there is a place of good food haven. There are just so many food shops!

One of our first stop is to have dessert at the "Bitter Sweet" shop selling Serradura. Serradura is a kind of Macau pudding. It actually taste like your smooth ice cream. NICEEEEEEEE! After a short dessert break we went to the famous pork chop bun shop. It starts selling their bun at 3 pm, but you have to go there earlier to avoid joining the long queue. We the first few in the queue to buy, just seconds after we bought our bun, the queue was damnnnnnnn long! Whew! What actually made the bun so delicious is that the bun is actually charcoal grilled so that's what made it so goooooddddd. It costs 12 HKD for 1 bun. This is a must try when you are in Macau!

After the bun, tried the bird nest Portuguese egg tart and milk egg tart. Delicious. But it is not the best I tasted so far. There's another Portuguese egg tart which I'll introduce later, is even better and I'll say it's the best in Macau!

Day 2 in Macau (Part 2)

Reached Hac Sa beach (黑沙海滩) in Coloane. It's still raining by the way. Ate at a recommended Portuguese restaurant there. It's a really good place for a relaxing lunch in the restaurant with a courtyard. They serve very good porks there. Ordered Stir-fried Clams (蛤蜊) with garlic and Pork ribs. The menu is in Chinese so I can't remember what is it called. There's even a roast pig. However I found it too common to eat roast pig, so ordered pork ribs instead.
Came our stir-fried clams. It's damn good! Lots of lots of clams! A shell lover will be drooling over this!
Then came our pork ribs. OMG it is really really really good! I haven't tasted such delicious pork ribs in Singapore! Dripping the lemon juice on the roasted pork ribs, then biting on the little meat on the rib bone, tasting the sweetness of the roasted oil and meat.

Heaven.

It just opened my appetite to eat even more pork ribs!

Macau Day 2

Woke up in the morning to have our breakfast in Sendo Square (議事亭前地). When we reached there, it started to rain heavily! Luckily I brought an umbrella with us. But the rain really affected the places that we can go for photo taking. Ate at a famous Wonton restaurant in Macau at there. Delicious!

Braised noodles

After our fulfilling breakfast, it's time for other food! BEWARE... this is going to become a food blog. Walk to another street to eat puddings and cakes! As you can see on the left of my beautiful model's hand, the white cake is marshmallow pudding and the yellow one well.. I'm not sure, should be lemon pudding. The taste of both is light and wasn't very sweet. Almost tasteless but good for people who don't like sweet stuffs. On the right of her hands are different flavored puddings: Coconut, chocolate and errrm... the yellow one I forgot.
After a yummy dessert, we hopped on the bus to travel to the Coloane (路環) for Portugese food... Stay tuned!

Macau Day 1 (Night)

In the night, we went to the Fisherman's Wharf. It's a nice photo taking spot. There's different themes of building to take photo of. And along the whole fisherman's Wharfs road are bistros and restaurants, music and romantic lamp lights. It's a really good spot for couples to take a walk!

After a long walk in Fisherman's Wharf, we went to a famous porridge stall (Can't remember what road it is cause it's all in Chinese) to have this yummy porridge meat balls. OMG taste so good! The porridge is very watery and you almost can't taste the porridge rice grain in it but the it's full of taste from the long hours of boiling, but the main draw is the delicious meat balls. Yum yum! You can choose the type of balls you want like beef or pork. Good!

We went to a dessert shop nearby which is also very well known for their desserts. I ordered their signature dessert which is a hot peanut paste soup with "tang yuan". It's damn good! The dessert is so tasty and smooth! Too bad I'm already really fun so can't finish it. By the time we finish eating, it's almost 12 am already. So we headed back to our hotel for a good nite sleep for Day 2 of Macau!

Macau Day 1

Reached the hotel and proceeded to check-in. Well the hotel staff upgraded our room from the standard to superior room free of charge. The only thing that we have to wait till 4 pm before we can check in. So we dumped our luggages at the hotel and went out to have our dinner and some sightseeing. Ok, so ermm we were quite lost on where to go. So we took a cab to see the Guan Yin Statue. I'm sorry I can't provide you most of the street names cause Macau's streets are so confusing!
We reached the statue, but it suddenly started to rain! Luckily it wasn't long before the rain stopped and we get the chance to view the statue and visit the building inside. Pretty boring in the building. After that ate at a noodle house nearby. Delicious! We were soooooo hungry!!!

After eating, we went back to the hotel to have our complementary drinks and collect our room keys. Woo the room is quite big!! Even have space to run about! The hotel looked really nice. Took a rest before heading out again in the night.

Macau 3D2N

Day 1 (9 June 07)

Woke up at 7.30 am to finish packing whatever stuff I need to put in my luggage. Although still feeling a little sleepy, I'm still very excited to have a holiday overseas! Reached the Budget Terminal around 9 am to check-in for the flight. It's a really no frills terminal, kinda empty with only a Han's restaurant there. Ate breakfast there before the flight cause Tiger Airways does not let passengers eat their own food in the plane. It's an almost 4 hour flight to Macau, so gotta have a full stomach before boarding the plane.

Sleepy Hitori

10.30 am, time to enter the gate. The immigration process is quite fast as the person only have to scan your passport and you are in. Then have to queue up to board the plane. Boarding the plane is unlike your usual boarding in Changi Airport. There's a stairs for you to climb up. You can feel the engine of the plane blowing. The plane took off at 11 am. 4 more hours to see LP in Macau!!

The plane arrived as scheduled into Macau at 2.40 pm. The airport there is really really small. Collected my luggage and met lp just outside the gates! So happy! We took a taxi to the hotel but OMG when we mentioned the hotel name, the taxi driver does not understand English at all! Luckily I have the address of the hotel plus lp's cantonese we are able to get there. Thank god! If it was me alone, I guess I'm stucked in the taxi! More to come soon!

Orchard Yong Tau Foo

Ate the Orchard Yong Tau Foo which I saw yesterday in Cuppage Plaza. Cause it was lunchtime and the shop was pretty small and packed. So we had to wait for a while before we can get a seat inside. Thank goodness we can preorder our selections while waiting. There's the dry and the soup versions. I tried the soup version. Ordered a bee hoon for my bowl. Finally we get our food, sat and eat. Wow it taste really good. Especially the soup, it's really tasty and does not taste like the usual Yong Tau Foo soup. Another winning part was the special sauce and chilli. The chilli sauce was really spicy but adds lots of flavour to your fishballs, tou fu, ladyfingers etc.
7 selections for $3.50 + $0.50 for noodles. Quite of expensive for a bowl of Yong Tau Foo, but in the Orchard area, it's the kind of standard pricing.

Cuppage Building

Was going for lunch today when my colleagues and I decided to try the food in Cuppage building opposite Centerpoint. To my surprise there's quite good food there! I tried the BAK CHOR MEE (Minced Meat Noodles), it's delicious. The noodles texture was smooth and chewy and the taste was not too oily. A single prawn included was chewy and fresh. The only thing is the soup that comes with it was too peppery. Selling at $3, it's value for money as the serving was quite big.
I've also heard there's a Yong Dou Fu stall in the building that is very popular among the working people in Orchard road. Didn't get to try it today cause there was a long queue for it.

Prices of milk in S'pore goes up, sugar prices fall

A PRICE survey of 40 milk and sugar products retailing at major supermarkets in Singapore shows a hike in the prices of condensed and evaporated milk, and certain brands of fresh milk. Sugar, on the other hand, saw a slight dip in prices, or remained the same.
The survey conducted by the Consumers Association of Singapore (CASE) was in response to recent concerns of product price hikes from members of the public and milk suppliers.

CASE requested for the price information of milk from Carrefour, NTUC Fairprice, Giant, and Sheng Shiong supermarkets in March and May respectively for a basis of comparison.

Condensed milk and evaporated milk

The price increase for condensed milk ranged from $0.10 to $0.50, which means the prices for some brands of condensed milk have gone up by nearly 45 per cent.

Nestle Milkmaid High-Calcium condensed milk shows the steepest price increase from about $1.10 to $1.60, while Dutch Lady condensed milk showed the smallest increase in price with a $0.10 hike.

The price increase for evaporated milk ranged from $0.15 to $0.47, marking a percentage increase of between 18 per cent to 48 per cent. The brand for evaporated milk that saw the steepest price hike is Nestle's Carnation Full Cream milk, from $0.90- $1.40 to $1.30- $1.70.

Fresh milk
Of the seven brands of fresh milk that CASE surveyed, the prices of four brand of 1 litre milk have increased across the board.

Marigold Hi-Lo Fresh milk, Magnolia Fresh milk, Farm House Fresh milk, and Daisy Fresh milk all saw price increases ranging from $0.10 to $0.55 for their products.

CASE says price-sensitive consumers can opt for supermarket housebrands as a cheaper alternative to cope with the price hikes. For instance, a can of Carrefour's 510g Big Saver condensed milk costs $1.10, while a 397g can of Fairprice condensed milk costs $0.90.

Going by cost per unit, these alternative brands sell for almost half the price of Nestle Milkmaid High-Calcium condensed milk.

CASE noted that not all supermarket chains practise a one-price policy. This means that prices may vary across the different outlets belonging to the same supermarket chain.

However, NTUC Fairprice and Giant supermarkets have said that it practices a one-price policy across all its outlets.

CASE said it will continue to monitor the prices of common household items and carry out periodic surveys.

Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End

Watched it today after work cause I guess I won't be catching it during the weekends. Took the 4 pm slot show. I would say this is the final part of the trilogy of pirates, and it's pretty good! Although the plot is REALLYYYYY confusing (since it's continued from the previous movie), but the action and dialogue makes up for this shortcoming. Jack sparrow is great, Babarosa is funny, lots of funny backstabbing and oh, Kiera Knightley is soo sexy. It's a long movie, but you won't feel that it's draggy. Good show. 4/5 stars.

Met another type of customer today:

The "I have no hands" customer: They expect you to be their slave and seems that everything should be done by you, even it is just writing a simple name or number when they are actually literate. Please bring your maid from your own home!

I'm not your fucking prostitute

Just today, the mass of customers is really overwhelming. It's like a mad house! Imagine a bank with almost 100 over people trying to fight over a queue or keep asking stupid questions, or fucking you for not doing something which is not even in your job scope. Screaming customers, pitiful customers, angry customers, stubborn customers. Almost seen it all today. Well sometimes I can understand their situation where the bank didn't even give them a clear instructions, but some just dun even bother to read the letter which the bank sent. Idiot. Some of the Perm staffs are really BITCH, just keep tell you to do this, do that and she herself just stand at one corner looking at the show. Anyway the process is really fucked up. It comes down to one thing - miscommunication. The ones who is overseeing this exercise don't even bother to update the branches on what is happening.

Here are some of the customers I met and seen:

The "when is my turn?" customer: This one will come to you every 5 minutes to ask you when will be his/her turn even you told her that hers will be next in 2 hours time. Irritating.

The Patient customer: He/She will be willing to wait till the end of time even you told them that it might take forever to wait. Probably has all the time they have in the world. Good and willing to listen to your instructions.

The "I have a lunch appointment" customer: These are fuckers, they will demand that they must be served as fast as possible and stop nothing to keep complaining and demanding that they have to right to be served first even though they are just a normal customer.

The "queue jumper": Another fucker, this one jumped the queue and even demand that they have the right to jump the queue, making other poor people unhappy.

The "I don't care" customer: These just don't listen what you explain to them, even it is the procedure. They just demand what they want it to be done. Deaf.

The "Please Fuck me" customer: Enough said, their looks is enough for you to pok them in the face - even they done nothing wrong.

Days in OCBC

I'm tired. Even though it's just been only 3 days, but I'm really tired from standing for 7 hours a day, talking to customers, trying your best to please them. Worse, you get fucked by them for just doing your job. You just dread to meet this kind of customers especially when they thought they are rich and deserved to be treated like a king. Sad sad sad there's nothing to look forward to, not pay, not weekends. Only can look forward to finishing the contract which is the end of June and a vacation.
