2006 has been a wonderful year for me. Looking back in time, My first clubbing experience and got to know my wonderful girlfriend in Zouk. It's really fate that we met. Then we have all the shit stuffs and changes in my army camp. Busy and funny Ops exercises. Trying to grind through my army life. During Nov and Dec always looking forward to Hong Kong. Spending a wonderful and memorable Christmas season with Dear which we will never forget. It's a good year. 2007 will be the year of anniversaries. My ORD and 1st year anniversary with Dear. 2007 will be the year I'll be heading into NTU for further studies. 2007 will be another good year. Cheers.

Hong Kong Day 4

24 Dec 2006

Today we are going to the Lantau Island to see the Big Buddha. It's quite far away, so we have to set off early at 8.30 am. Took a train to central, then took a ferry to the Lantau Island. Then again took a bus to go up the hill. Quite a long ride, so again, fell asleep during the trip.

Finally we have reached the top. There is the Big Buddha. It's a really wonderful sight. As we are early, we get to enjoy the peacefulness of the area and fresh air. Went to visit the temple, watching shaolin monks performing for charity. Had our Vegetarian lunch at there. The food was really good! After, we climbed up the long flight of stairs to reach the top. Wasn't really long as I expected but my gf and mum was panting away halfway to the top. Lol! The top has a nice scenery, you can see the cable cars moving opposite, which I guess is the Ngong Ping 360. Didn't go there cause it's really really packed full of people. Maybe I'll go again during the off-peak season.

Delicious vegetarian food!

Long wayyy down

Half a day already spent at the Lantau Island. We then took a bus ride to Stanley Market. Another long ride. We get to see the beach! But no babes there cause it's crazy to go to the beach in bikinis during winter!

After a quick snack/dinner at Mcdonalds, we took a ride to The Peak. AHaha slept again until we reached there. It's already night. There's a shopping centre there and the Madame Tussauds Wax Museum. Some of the wax figures look like the real person! Went up to the top to take picture of the city. And watch fireworks. But it was really packed up there!

Taking with Ayumi Hamasaki

Mr Einstein!

Took the Peak Tram back to the land. It's really steep!!! 45' Steep! I had to hold on to my mum and Dear to maintain balance or else you'll see me rolling down with the tram. On Christmas Eve, the whole TST was packed to the max! Roads are closed for people to walk. Everyone was in a Christmas Spirit. Back to hotel, Dear went home first to get some clothes. She came back at the doorstep with a huge muffin cake which she baked herself! Awwwww so sweet! Finally got to taste her cooking. It's really delicious! After her many failed attempts to bake a cake for me. She made a really delicious one. Looks tempting huh? Merry Christmas Shirley...*Muacks*

Hong Kong Day 3

23 Dec 2006

"What's for Today?"

"Disneyland!"

Yup today we are going to Disneyland. We have already bought the tickets before we came to Hong Kong to prevent any sold out. Cause it's the Christmas season. So it's better to buy it early. To get to Disneyland is quite far as it's located on the Lantau Island. So from TST we took the MTR to Central, then change to Hong Kong Station and upwards to Sunny Bay Station. At there then we have to change trains again to take the Disney train to Disneyland.

Disney Train

Disneyland Train Station

M-I-C-K-E-Y M-O-U-S-E.

We reached Disneyland! It's a beautiful place. Plus the weather is good too! I really like the weather in HK. It's the smallest Disneyland in World, but at least finally I can afford to go there now! Tickets are not cheap though during special seasons. Costs S$70 per ticket! Inside there is so themed. And Yah everywhere you need to queue and wait. To take photos with the mascots, go for the rides. You spend your time waiting there. But it's worth the wait la since it's once in a lifetime trip to disneyland. Oh and there are lots of disney stuffs to buy. LOADS of them. My mum kept buying the stuffed toys. And you can take pictures with the toys. There's even cookies.

Goofy and Pluto

Cute Stuffs

Shit. Caught in the act.

Afternoon there's the road parade where all the characters will be on show on the road. Pretty. Thereafter we went for theatre shows like the "Golden Mickey", "Lion King" etc. The Golden Mickey was very good! But the Lion King was boring. Dear and I both fell asleep while watching it. Waking up to find it ending already. The whole day was spent on disney. Watching shows, taking photos.

Golden Mickey (Disney's Oscar Awards)

My Cute Mum

Night fell. And the streets became a romantic place to be in. With falling snows and christmas lights. And a big christmas tree. Finally at 9 pm. We watched the Grand Finale, which is the fireworks shooting from the Disney Castle. Very nice! As my gf said, Ho lan (Very pretty)!!!!

Fireworks!!

Hong Kong Day 2

22 Dec 2006

Didn't do much for the 2nd day cause my stomach wasn't feeling very well. Got this queasy feeling in my tummy just like a pregnant woman. Woke up in the morning and had a walk around TST near our hotel with my mum and sis while Dear is still sleeping like a pig. Keke! Had Wonton mee just around the corner. The wonton I ate is HUGE! They had prawns in it. But can't eat much due to queasy stomach. After that back to the hotel for a rest. Knowing that I'm not feeling well, Dear bought congee for me. Felt so Xin Fu!! And that she went out with my mum and Sis for shopping while I rested at the hotel.

Huge huh?

They came back during evening and my sis was really happy cause she got to buy lots of Rain merchandise. Seems like a fruitful day for her. Feeling better now, went down with dear to have congee dinner at a restaurant before meeting up with mum again for a trip to the HK Space Museum. Haha a little private time for us to be together.

The Space Museum is pretty boring as we didn't watch the omni theatre show. Looking at all the space exhibits. Boring ahah. Not much content inside the museum. As the Avenue of Stars is just nearby we took a walk to the harbourfront to watch the "Symphony of Lights". Nice! All the lights dancing to the music shone from the tall buildings.

We are now looking at Hong Kong

Hong Kong Trip Day 1

Finally Blogger seems to be more stable now. I can finally blog now.

21 December 2006

Our flight was in the morning of 11 am. So we checked in at about 9 am, then walked around the airport till 10 am and went in to board the plane.

At Changi Airport

Took Cathay Pacific to Hong Kong. It's my first time taking a plane to a faraway land, hence I'm so excited! In the plane, the air stewardesses are so busy! From the time before take off till the time of landing, kept seeing them busy with taking care of the passengers needs and preparing for our lunch! The food is quite ok, I just love the ice cream! HAha!

Flying at High Altitudes

Slightly better than Army food

We had touched down at Hong Kong International Airport after 3 hours 15 min flight. Watched movies along the way on flight. The airport is located on an island faraway from the city. Reached there at about 2+ pm.

We passed the immigration check point and tried to find for our agency group. Cause they will bring us to the hotel. Slightly had a hard time finding them cause they provided us an outdated map of the airport. Finally found them, waited for other tourists to arrive before we boarded their mini-bus to take us to our hotel. The trip to our hotel was really really long! First we have to travel from one island to Hong Kong, then to Kowloon. Plus they also send other passengers to their own different hotels. We are the last to alight. By the time we reached Kimberly Hotel, it's almost 6 pm. Poor Dear waited for us till she fell asleep in the lobby! But along the long trip we get to do abit of sightseeing!

Streets of Tsim Sha Tsui

Sunset at Harbourfront

After we had settled down in our hotel, it was already dinner time! So we went to a vegetarian restaurant for dinner. We ordered a few dishes but we didn't expect that the serving size was so BIG! Had a difficult time chomping down our food! My mum even shared our food with the couple sitting beside us. After dinner, went to Mong Kok area where all the famous streets are there like Fa Yuen street (Flower Garden St). We passed by the Goldfish market there, WA! So many shops selling fishes! It's the whole stretch of fish shops! Then we headed to Fa Yuen street and Women's market, where it is popular spot for tourists. Buying things there need to bargain arh. It's like pat sat malam in Singapore, except that it's open everyday! The streets in Hong Kong at night are so colourful!

Goldfish Market

Mong Kok

Ok so after the streets, we went to a shopping centre to look at the pretty Christmas Decorations. There's just alot of people in the streets and shopping centres getting their last minute christmas shopping. Walking till the late nights at 11+ pm, it's still crowded! Tired we returned back to our hotel for a night's sleep.

This cute little boy, I just love to bully him. Haha but he's a very nice guy. So we had dinner all together without Juno and Batman cause they went home. After dinner went a little walk before heading home.

Happy Birthday

Today went to East Coast Beach for some games and fun with my dad's friends. Every family is gathered there and they had a bbq and games. Before that went cycling but had some cuts and bruises on my right leg cause at some point I lost control of the bike while trying to look to the back. After the fun and games. Went to meet up with the League to celebrate Jenny's Birthday at NewYork NewYork located in City Link. The food is great and service is also good! Finally got to try the food there cause it's always a long queue. We got her slippers and the tradition, a sexy underwear.
After, Neil and I had to rush to Aloha Resort for another friend's birthday party. Quite a busy day! Reached home at 12 am.

Meteor Shower "Geminids"

What is a meteor shower?

"A meteor shower, also known as a "meteor storm", is a celestial event where a large number of meteors are seen within a very short period of time. These meteors are small fragments of cosmic debris entering Earth's atmosphere at extremely high speed, leaving a streak of light that very quickly disappears. Most of the small fragments of cosmic debris are smaller than a grain of sand, so almost all fragments are burnt up and never hit the earth's surface. Fragments which do contact earth's surface are called meteorites."

In layman terms, it's called shooting stars.

Yes from 13 - 15 Dec there will be a meteor shower which is one of the most worth to view meteor showers for the winter. Named after the constellation of Gemini which is said to have "fallen" from. It's called a radiant where meteors appeared to fall from a point in that constellation. Best time to view it is in a very dark area with clear sky from 11 pm to 4 am. So it's a good time to have a romantic night with your partner. Girls will squeal at the sight of these shooting stars.

1 Litre of Tears/Ichi Rittoru no Namida

This tear-jerker drama is about a girl who was diagnosed with a disease called Spinocerebellar Degeneration when she was 15 years old, and was able to continue her life until her death at the age of 25 years old. Based on a true story from her diary, which is published after her death. Her diary has inspired many people to see the fact that being alive and healthy is such a wonderful thing. So far over 18,000,000 copies have been sold.

After such a long hiatus of Japanese dramas, I finally managed to pick this drama to watch. There have been raving reviews of this drama that it is so sad, it made every person watching it, cried. And I almost did watching it. It made me feel that we are so lucky to be healthy and alive, being able to walk and do what ever we want. Such a touching drama!

Showing at a Youtube near you.
