Lost In Singapore Day 5

Valentine's Day

Our First Valentine's Day! Dressed up to go to Vivocity for a walk and shopping. Almost exhausted all the interesting places to go already kakaka. Singapore is just so small. Anyway decided to hop on the new train that leads to Sentosa. $3 SGD per person. Well there's not much of a nice view while riding the train. Moves too fast, then there's only 3 stops in Sentosa! Kind of a disappointment. Took a walk and a few bus trips around Sentosa before watching this 4D movie. Quite fun, there's really water spurting while you watch!

After that took a cable car back to Vivocity. The view was much nicer and the sun was setting soon... romantic! Actually this was my first time sitting the cable car. However I felt that the cable car ride I took in Ocean Park was much nicer. Wanna try the Ngong Ping 360 next time! Spent some time at the roof top of Vivocity before heading to City Hall for our dinner.

Lost In Singapore Day 4

13 Feb 07

Went to Ikea today. No, we are not buying furniture for our house. Just to look at the new Ikea located at Tampines. Said to be the biggest Ikea store in Singapore. Took a train to Tampines, then a shuttle bus to Ikea! Wow sounds exciting! Hahhaha! Anyway it's really quite a big building, inside it's really well organised into different kinds of furniture types. What I like best was those mini home set ups. We just keep trying on the beds and sofas around. So nice! However the trip was quite short, maybe we are not considering any furniture, that's why doesn't take us much time to walk around. Ate the $1 hot dog bun, nice sausage.
After that took her to Pasir Ris. However, the silly Daniel doesn't know that Escape Theme Park is only opened on Weekends. Gua gua gua gua....
But still got the time to rush to Plaza Singapura for a movie. Dinner after that at Wakaru Japanese Restaurant. Delicious! And I got a surprise Blueberry cheesecake from her! Felt so touched by her surprise!

Lost In Singapore Day 3

Day 3, brought Shirley to for Kaya Toast breakfast at Plaza Singapura. Forgot there's no Ya Kun (亚坤 ) at PS, we just settled for another kaya toast meal at another stall. Next time will bring you to Ya Kun again dear! Keke she's quite disgusted at our half-boiled egg, how we mixed it all up ending looking like shit. But it's very nutritious!

After that brought her down to Little India for a longggggggg walk. We walked one end to the other reaching Mustafa Shopping Centre. But realised that it's not the shopping centre she wanted to go to. In the end walked all the way back to the starting point finally found the shopping centre she wanted to go. Cause she wanted to find the shop in Tekka Mall that she visited the previous trip. Too bad she could find the food stall she ate last time. Ate at Komala's Indian restaurant instead. The food is just so so only. Not a fan of indian food though.
Took her for a walk in Chinatown looking at some of the Chinese New Year stalls along the streets. Bought some egg tarts! But before we could eat them, they were all gobbled up by my lovely mum. Rested for a while before heading to the Esplanade for some night views. From there took her to Lau Pat Sat to satisfy her sudden craving for laksa. It's already almost 11 pm and she suddenly told me that she wanted to eat laska!

新年初三

Met up with Chaozhi, Toh Toh and Phua Dexiang to go Chaozhi's house to 拜年. It's quite a long time since I met them together so it's a good time to meet up and talk about how's everyone doing. We ate pizza at his home and played cards while we chat up about the old times and update on each other's job and school life. Later returned home at about 7 pm. Tomorrow is back to work in the Army. Hurry up let me ORD!!

Lost in Singapore Day 2

Went out with my mum and sis for breakfast at Marina Square. After breakfast we walked around the Esplanade and Suntec City. From Suntec we walked to Bugis. Brought her to try the Ritz Apple strudel nearby. Ordered a Strawberry Strudel. It's really good!! She fell in love with it after the first bite. Everything taste so sweet.

Came back home for a rest and slept awhile before having dinner together with my family. Then we headed out to the Night Safari!! Although I lived in Singapore for such a long time, I haven't been to the Night Safari before. So it's our first time to the Night Safari. Bought the tickets for the trail and tram ride. It's very interesting to watch the animals at night under the stars. In the night, the night dwellers are out active. Got to see the feeding of tigers. Really scary! We are just separated by a glass wall and the tiger looks very hungry.... It's also quite fun to take a walk in the trails. However too bad you cannot use flash to take the photos of the animals. So is as good as not taking any pictures cause all of your photos will be blur. Didn't spend much time walking around the Safari, cause we had to rush to watch the Animal Show which is very recommended! We had to queue as early as 1/2 hour before the show. But the show is really entertaining so it's worth the time. There's only 2 time slots, 9 pm and 10 pm. We missed the first time slot cause it was full, so watched the second time slot. After the show ended at near 11 pm, felt veryyyy tired. So tired that I just took a cab back home, don't even want to wait for the bus!

新年初一

今天 wake up at about 10. 吃了婆婆的 curry with bread. Left for our relatives house to 拜年。First went to my Father's side relatives. Ohh spend some time there eating and chatting there. Opps now they said I gained a bit of meat. Must be eating lots of cakes with Dear recently. But worth it.. kekeke. After that 回家修息，then head out to my grandmom's place. Got a new addition to the family! My cousin had a baby, he's the candy of the family now. All of us just wanted to play with him. Of course our mums keep taking pictures with him. Babies are just so adorable. Ate alottttttt. So full!! After eating felt so sleeepy. Finally head home about 8+ pm.

Ghost Rider

Watched with Lance on Friday. I would say this movie is pretty average although very cool. I just like the look of the ghost rider in the movie. Very HOT!! Story is just so so only guess the main plus points is the animation of the ghost rider. It's good. 2.5/5 stars.

Lost in Singapore Day 1

Shirley's coming!! So excited!! Also today is the League's BBQ. Went to Marine Parade to meet the League members at 3 pm to do shopping for the groceries. Went down to NTUC to buy the food and BBQ stuff. After that we carried all the bags of food to our pit in East Coast Park. Our pit - 34D. Nice number right? Sounds like the size of a bra. Lol. Finally we reached our destination! Hungry!!! Ryan started to place all the charcoals, Neil and I were putting and lighting the firestarters, Leroy and the girls were marinating the meat.

Once we got our fire started, the Barbecue has started!! Started dumping the sausages and crabsticks. Then later the Salmon and meat. Ate for a while till 7 pm, then rushed off to fetch Dear from the airport. Waited for her at the arrival gate with my mum and sis. Ahhh so excited! Wanna hug her once she's out, but mum's around.. so too bad hahaha. Brought her home to put all her stuffs, there's soo many stuffs she brought from HK. Lots of snacks and biscuits from Hong Kong and Macau! Plus she made some rice cookies for me! 好感动!! 好好吃!!

After that brought her back to the bbq site for her bbq fun. I haven't seen anyone barbecuing bread with marshmallows! Well seems like in Hong Kong everyone does that. And she never seen anyone barbecuing marshmallows using satay sticks! Lol. Cultural difference. But the fire isn't very hot already, so our marshmallows did not really melt to our expectations. After our food, we had our own fun activities. Packed up and left the pit at around 10+ pm.

BABEL

Watched this film with Shirley today cause there isn't any interesting films out yet. Wasn't very keen on watching this show cause it looks boring. Yeh, and it really is boring. The film shows 3 different lives of people and their tragic story and how they are actually all linked to a single thing. It's kinda of an art film, anyway art films are ridiculous and outrageous. Wtf Cannes film award winner, it's more for the film critic's kind of movie. Anyway sitting through the whole 2 hrs+ of slow movie isn't going to really knock you out. Just don't watch it when you are sleepy.

Wisdom and a swollen gum

Ouch arhhhh.... Had a bad swollen gum for the whole day. Painful!!! Went to see a doctor after I came home. Should be just my wisdom tooth growing again. That's why it's pushing my gum making it very painful. My cheek feels so swollen for the whole day.... Now it feels better after taking painkillers!

Sunday

Went shopping today at Bugis and Suntec. Bought soooo many stuffs! Carrying so many shopping bags walking around, I felt like a 太太. Lol.

Can The Days Pass Quickly Pleaseeeee

It's been a very slow week. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, soon Friday and Saturday. 天天过的很慢. Work has been slow these few days I just can't stand it. But I feel very tired everyday. Saturday still have to go back for work. Dumb Best Unit Competition. Y not next year after I ORDed?? Can't wait for next week to come!!!!

Chemical Defence

Today had a chemical defence training. Had to wear the chemical suit. It's bloody hot in it! Just like wearing thick winter clothing under the hot sun! Then we have to wear a mask to protect us from gas attack. It's quite difficult to breathe in it. Then we have to do the many drills that prepare us for any chemical attack like quickly putting on the mask and suit in a short time. It was quite fun actually. But tomorrow will be the big day where they will throw us into a gas chamber and see how are we going to suffering under burning tear gas.

Watched this show with Neil at PS. Actually wanted to watch Apocalypto, but the timing is just not suitable for us as Neil has to go for a birthday party later. Didn't know what was it about before the show, but after watching it, it's a good movie! The story is about the civil war in Africa and how diamond mining has led to thousands of people death just for the women's best friend. Illegal exporting of diamonds, refugees, war. South Africa is a dangerous place to live in. Bullets are free there. All in all, a long but good movie! 3.5/5 Stars!

After the movie received SMS from Leroy asking the Easties for a dinner. So headed to Tanah Merah to meet Ewan and Leroy. We took a bus to Katong. As I seldom been to Katong, I was amazed there were so many good food available there!
We went to this Astons ~Specialties~ for western food. It's famous for it's cheap and good food. We queued for almost an hour just to get in! By the time we are sitted, we are just so damn hungry. Ate very quickly! But the food portion is small. Ordered Chicken & Sausage combo. Chicken is Hickory BBQ Chicken. Leroy ordered spaghetti and steak. Ewan ordered the same steak.

Dental FFI

Today went for my Dental FFI at SAFTI. The appointment is at 8 am. Left my house at 7 am. Actually wanted to take the MRT to Boon Lay. But the train was really slow, by the time I reach Boon Lay MRT Station I'll be late. So I stopped at Jurong East MRT Station to take a cab. BUT NOT A CAB IN SIGHT!!!! WAH LAU. I went back to the station and took the train to BOON LAY AGAIN. But there have more taxis in sight. Reached SAFTI Military Institute to meet my other friend then go together. BUT the place was REALLY BIG. It's a LONGGGGGGGG walk to the medical centre in there. By the time we reached the dentistry, it's already 9 am. Luckily we still can see the dentist and get our medical cert. After that walked around Jurong Point before heading home.

2nd Week

It's Monday again! Back to work. Worked the whole day, trying to keep myself busy if not it's quite hard to pass the time. Time passes quickly when you are busy! But sometimes don't really feel well today. Feel like vomiting once in a while. And when I vomit, I vomited phlegm. Maybe there's too much phlegm in my stomach which causes my stomach flu. Been taking Chinese Medicine to cure my stomach flu. So maybe it's getting rid of the phlegm.

Back to Army

Back to the force on Wednesday. Came back to clear the shit that my IC left when I was away. Tons of paper work to do. Luckily was able to clear up the shit with only some minor problems. Whew! Now January, going to ORD in March! Soon soon...

Hong Kong Last Day

Today is the last day of my trip. Didn't go anywhere, we just slept till the late morning then we booked out of our hotel. Waited for the tour bus to picked us up to bring us back to the airport. At the airport, my mum is still buying stuffs there even though she almost used up all her money hahaha! As the departure time approaches, we have to say our good byes. Couldn't bear to leave her. Giving our last hugs, she stood there at the gate watching me leave...

Hong Kong Day 5

Today is Ocean Park Day! We took a straight bus to Ocean Park at 9 am. There's already a lot of people waiting for the park to open. Ocean Park is another must go attraction when you are in Hong Kong. And it's tickets are far cheaper than Disneyland. Once inside, the Park is divided into 2 parts, the Uphill and Downhill. We started at the downhill, so in order to get to the Uphill, we took a cable car in the park. The view is so pretty! Can see the South China sea from there.
We reached the top. There is where all the rides and exhibits are. First we went to the various exhibits like the Jellyfish gallery, Shark gallery and a mini underwater world. Watched the Dolphin and Seal performance also!

After all the attractions, we went to play the rides! Actually I have never taken any amusement park rides before cause my mum cannot play these kind of rides. It's my first time trying all kinds of rides! FUN!!! Played the roller coaster, flying eagle, and the scariest was the Abyss! Where it brings you up into the sky where you can a breathtaking view of the park and then..................AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Drops you down! Didn't manage to play all the rides cause spent quite alot of time waiting for this rides. Waiting for 1/2 hr for rides which last for 5 mins. Hahaha but it's for the excitement! As the time goes by, more and more people are flooding in. Had to take a shuttle bus back to the Main Entrance cause the cable car has a REALLY long queue. Left Ocean park at around 5+ pm.

We had dinner at this kind of restaurant where the locals called it "Ca Can Ting". Where they serve many kinds of food. This restaurant is quite well known, many stars like to eat here. My gf ordered "Sing Chou Noodle" (Singapore style noodle) which this dish didn't even exist in Singapore! Lol. Anyway it's delicious. It's fried bee hoon coated with curry. Still, HK dishes are all very Big portions. It's enough for 2 persons. I ordered a very simple dish, Macaroni with eggs and luncheon meat. I just love to eat macaroni. Can't help ordering when I see one.

After dinner, we took a walk in Lan Kwai Fong, where all the bars and clubs are located there. Pretty small place. Didn't try clubbing there, cause was too tired to do so. Took the star ferry back to TST at the New Harbour. Ohh so cool! Very nice view in the night. And we got to see fireworks again at the pier!

Happy New Year!

Went for dinner with Leroy, Ewan and Jenny at the Village (Marche Clone) located at the basement of Heeren in Orchard Road. The food wasn't very good. After that we met the rest of the gang at the National Museum. The thought of having a countdown there is quite interesting. And admission is also free cause it has just opened after renovations and just to celebrate it's opening. However it's really boring there. Nothing much to do. So we headed out to Timbre which is a outdoor bar. It has lots of local bands playing there and the atmosphere was great! However the countdown was a disappointment. Not much excitement at all, and the timing wasn't accurate! Sat there until 2+ am before leaving. Cause there is no more transport available, we had to WALK from Dohby Ghaut area to Geylang! Which is quite a long walk. Hungry mah, wanted to eat supper there. Took us about 1/2 hour plus to reach the place were we had dim sum supper. Not very nice to eat. After supper finally walked back home. Amazing, didn't spent any money on transport home!
