Densha Otoko

Nothing interesting happening, so just introduce you to one fabulous drama

Adapted from the best selling book "Train Man," this is the true life story of a geeky young man's romance with a beautiful young lady. The book is based on actual messages posted on a huge internet discussion board in Japan. A million internet users followed the Train Man's romance, giving him advices on how to impress the girl and take her out on dates. Train Man belongs in the so-called "Akiba-kei" category: a term that describes nerdy looking men who hang out at Akihabara (the famous electronics area in Tokyo) all day, who are obsessed with video games and computers.

Hermes

Saori Aoyama is a 25-year old woman who works at a foreign company in Tokyo. She has lived overseas for a long time and is fluent in English. She has an aura of sophistication and a beautiful face that turns men's heads.

One Sunday, Saori had to attend a party at work. Her female colleagues are busy searching for good-looking guys while Saori attends foreign guests, flashing warm smiles at them. After a long day working, Saori rides the train home only to be involved in an incident that would change her life.

Inside the train, Saori is harassed by a heavily drunken man. When the drunk reaches to touch her face, a young man stands up and says, "S... stop that!" She turns to see a very weak looking young man. The young man's action sparks up a quarrel in the train. He feebly says, "I'm sorry for getting you all involved. This is my fault." Some of the other passengers have annoyed look on their faces, but some praise the young man for his courage. Saori also seems impressed at what the man did for her.

Train Man

The young man is 23-year old Tsuyoshi Yamada. He is the typical nerd obsessed with anime and computer games. He always hangs out in Akihabara, the electronics center in Tokyo. Tsuyoshi has no interest in fashion and other trends, and his age equals the number of years he hasn't had a girlfriend. He works as a salesman at an employment agency but is always scolded by his boss.

Tsuyoshi just happened to be on his way home from an event in Akihabara when he met Saori. He has never been in a fight before, but the sight of the drunk harassing Saori made him furious as he stood up to protect her.

The only things Tsuyoshi is usually interested in are anime and video games. But something about Saori's beauty lit a fire in his heart, giving him courage. When he's looking for words to apologize, Saori hands him her date planner. "I want to return a favor, so can you write down your address?" Tsuyoshi is taken back. He has been humiliated a thousand times by women, but never appreciated, especially from a beautiful woman like Saori. Saori has a sweet smile on her face as she watches Tsuyoshi write down his address with shaking hands.

Hermes and Train Man

If it wasn't for the drunk man in the train, Tsuyoshi and Saori would never have become acquainted. A few days after the train incident, Tsuyoshi really receives a package from Saori. Inside was a Hermes tea cup. Tsuyoshi held the bright orange cup with his shaking hands. Unfortunately, he has never had a girlfriend in the past and is at a loss about what to do. That is when he visits a huge internet discussion board for some help.

Tsuyoshi immediately becomes the center of attention. Other computer freaks reply one after another. "Call her and say thanks!" "No, it's better to keep it a memory." Reading the heated discussion, Tsuyoshi is touched that so many people are supporting him even though they don't know each other at all.

Since then, Tsuyoshi has been referred to as "Train Man" and without her knowledge, Saori was being called "Hermes."

Ever since Tsuyoshi received the Hermes cup, his everyday life is filled with new experiences: calling a girl, mobile phone messages, buying clothes, going on a date, holding her hand, walking her home, visiting her room... Everything that happens between him and Saori is a big event and miracle for Tsuyoshi. He does his best to hide his geek-ness. Tsuyoshi's mind is occupied with just one wish. "I want Saori to like me."

On the other hand, Saori is starting to be moved by Tsuyoshi's efforts. "Maybe I can trust Tsuyoshi" she thinks. What Saori looks for in a guy is not his money, nor his looks or brains, but "honesty." In the past, Saori was betrayed and deeply hurt by her longtime boyfriend. She found out that he had a wife and kids. Since then, Saori could not stand a man that lies.

What happens when Saori finds out what the real Tsuyoshi is like? How will she react when she discovers she has become a heroine on an Internet site?

What a Rubbish Day

Today's bad! The whole camp was tasked to to salvage and clearing of rubbish. Didn't know that the rubbish pile was soooo huge!! WTF and they wanted us to use our bare hands to clear the pile of shit that has been accumulated for 4 months! Why didn't they have a container to hold the rubbish instead of dumping them on the ground to breed mosquitos. Really no brainer. Suck thumb so by hook or by crook must be done. Sickening, the plastic bags already started to break down, spilling all the contents out. Load them on to the forklift then load onto the dump truck. Inefficient, but this is the best way given such limited resources. Grrrr. And I thought I'll never see Maggots again. Wrong! This time is WORSE! Termites! Maggots! and HUGE WORMS! ARggg!

The Brothers Grimm

Watched this movie with Leroy, Ewan and Neil on Saturday. I initially thought it was like Van hellsing kind of movie. Well it wasn't exactly like that but it's more of your bedtime stories read to you when you were young all mixed into one and with a slightly sinister plot. The story goes like this: 2 brothers who were fake exorcists going around cheating ppl of their money until they were caught by the French and sent to a village to solve the mystery of children who went missing in the forest in which each of them is a character of some fairy tale. When they enbarked the journey, they found that the forest is enchanted! It's quite entertaining and quite funny. The actors acted really well here though the plot is abit weird. 3/5 Stars!

After the movie, Ewan left first. So the rest went for a walk around Taka. Damn then later found that my phone's vibration stopped working. Now can't even know when I am I receiving a call or message. Sobz... Saw some unique curry puffs Neil wanted to buy. Saw a Durian Curry Puff! Wow, bought it to try and it's delicious! It's filled with durian fillings instead of the curry. Good!
Went for a simple meal at Pasta Mania and headed to a pool centre somewhere near Sunshine Plaza. The place is very cosy and nice, like a trendy coffee club. Too bad no place and was quite late so headed home instead.

Today half of my Sunday burnt due to activation exercise. Carrying all my battle stuff and go suntan. Wah finally got to reach home and nua...

Finally Graduated

Finally today is our graduation! So looking forward to this day! Slacked during the morning before cleaning up the room for a presentation of certificates. The ceremony took place in the afternoon where our base CO came down to congratulate us on our graduation and handed us our certs and badges plus an opening speech which is a little too long (A bit lor sor). Then later our OIC gave us our new posting and then a mini tea reception. Then waited to go home and ready for tmr where we report to our new units. Well these 13 weeks have been quite a memorable one since it mostly contain nightmares (the tests! the Horrors!) and feeling downs. However there were fun times sticking together and graduating together with each other. Tommorrow going to report to my new Unit!

Finally Joined the Fire Sect. It's called an Ammo Badge!

ATT Gathering at PS

Had a gathering with my coursemates at Plaza Singapura in the night. Before meeting the guys, met up with Jason, my coursemate too, to bring him to Sunshine Plaza to look at those anime figures. There is another heaven to anime freaks cause there sells quite alot of anime stuffs. Since no more Clarke Quay toy shops, here is the place!

Bleach Figures

FMA cute figurines

After that met up with the rest at PS. Well not all came cause some "flew aeroplane" at the last minute. One of my coursemate was a married regular and he brought his family along too. His baby is sooo cute! We went to Swensens to have our dinner!

Deciding on what to eat....

Pam: Looks like a Terrorist!

Jason and his Weird look

From L to R: Randy, Me, Lingo

Tim getting a hug from Pam

Randy and his son Wilson

Bartop dancing!

Can't stop playing with Randy's son. Cause he's so cute! I think babies are the cutest when they giggle and laugh. Carried him around then kept making funny faces just to make him laugh. Cute thing is he keeps staring at ppl with his big eyes, guess he was wondering who are these guys hanging around with his dad.

Awww makes me wanna be a dad now

Damn hungry waiting for the food and finally it arrives!

My Chicken Cutlet!

And Dessert!

Finally we ate our full and left the restaurant and headed to Paradiz Centre to play pool.

Tim taking over as Dad now!

Reached there, Randy and I played Snooker while the rest played pool. Snooker is really not easy to play cause the table is sooooo big and smooth! The distance is so far that a slight deviation makes a big difference!

Hitting most of the red balls only....

This is Sam! Very kiddish guy lol

After a tiring session of looking at so many balls, we headed for home. Awww Wilson fell asleep while we are playing. Haha. Took a bus with Jason for a ride home and prepares for school tomorrow. Wanna thank Jason for his Photos from his new Olympus Camera!

A ride back Home!

We're going to the Zoo Zoo Zoo

Went to the zoo today cause got free tickets by the Army. So morning was trapped in the room for a few hours cause almost every personnel has gone for the Zoo trip except us trainees which can only go AFTER they left the zoo. Ok had early lunch then we all took a taxi to the ZOO! Waited about 1 hour for our commander before we can enter (More waiting!). Finally got in, then later our commander throw smoke bomb and left (must be sneaking home). Anyway the trip was quite fun as I think I had not been to the Zoo for more than a decade. Got to see elepants, Zebras, Lemurs etc. Too bad didn't bring my camera along. But the happiest thing is that we can go home early!

Rainy Days

Seem to see rain these few days. Went for dinner with Ryan, Ivy and Peishan on Friday. Just nice he messaged me during fall out. I was about to make my way home cause it's raining and confirm you can't see any stars. So didn't make my way to NP.

Today went to Plaza Singapura to have lunch with Yanru after so many declined requests by me cause was too busy to meet up with her. She does look different after she rebonded her hair. I think a person's hair make up of 70% of his/her outlook. Just a different hairstyle, with hair and botak does make a person look differently! I'm gald the botak days are over! Then later met up with Neil at orchard. Such a coincidence that he's in orchard too when I called him. Apparently he just taking a walk there after some Air Force Anniversary Run.
Somehow I'm back to the days of gaming again after the incident. Back to where I started?

Damn and today is such a nice day for a jog!

Queenstown Char Kway Teow

Went to eat Char Kway Teow with my coursemates after school today at Queenstown area. The stall can be easily recognised by it's single bright shining bulb with a long queue of eaters queuing up for their plate of the famous Char Kway Teow. Found a seat, then go join the queue. Luckily it was still early so not much people queuing up. Wah the uncle can fry very fast sia. Ordered 6 plates for just 4 us! See how hungry we are? Of course there was cockles in it. I think this stall served the most cockles in a plate of char kway teow. I think theres more than 10 in it and they are huge! Wah eat 1 plate I already sick of the "hums" already. My friend keeps passing them to me! But the dish is delicious! Very good place for hum lovers.

Wah! Lots of hums left over!

Biggest hum we found. Look at how huge compared to the smaller one.

Meteor Shower on 12 Aug- 13 Aug

Spent the night in NP looking at the sky for meteors. However, the view was hampered by bad cloud weather. Nevertheless there are a few strong ones which managed to pierce through the clouds to give us a spectacular fireball.

453 days to ORD

453 days seemed so far away.... still got hundreds of days to go.

Today was not a good day at all. As the most of the Perm staff were off except for a few poor souls and us trainees which still have to come to school to do what? NOTHING. It's supposed to be project day but we can't do anything cause we are forbidden to bring any computer electronic stuffs to school. Our boss really have no brains, expect us to do project using computer whereas we don't have one?!! He's not even in school today! Bought a 2nd Gameboy Advance from my friend just nice can play to pass some time away. After lunch we went for our healthy lifestyle but halfway in our game we got scolded by our deputy commander cause there was no warrant officers around and we didn't ask for permission. We almost got confined! I don't know we will really get confined this weekend. Hope not. Apparently he told one of our coursemate that we are not supposed to play today during lunchtime but our friend didn't relay the message and just wanted to test the system. So most of us were farked without knowing what's wrong. Hope our Deputy commander didn't take this incident too harsh as he's one of our only senior that we can talk comfortably.
Damn tomorrow is another day.

National Day Eve

Morning was shit as I was raining very heavily on my way to school in Bukit Timah. Even with an Umbrella half of my body was soaking wet. The only thing dry was my head. Went for some National Day parade at Base. Got a half day today! I was hoping for it and haha we got lucky half day for us. After lunch waited for the bus which was supposed to come at 12.30 pm but it was delayed until 1.30 pm. Damn was rotting in school during that time!
Reached home got changed and out again with Ryan to the Carnival@Marina. Quite a lot of people were there for the festival. Went there to look at the Army displays plus some photo taking. There were rides in our SAF light armoured vehicles and fire engines and many static displays of military weapons and vehicles.

Bronco

AMX10 Tank

SM1 Tank our mini tank

Bionix IFV

Our new Arty Unit "Primus"

Went for a few shooting with the SAR21 with blank ammunition. Hiaz I pity the guy who is going the clean the rifle after the event ends hahaha. You know that cleaning a rifle which have shot blank ammuntitions is a nightmare?

Super Puma

After a tiring day, we headed to Marina square for Dinner at Carl's Jr Burger. The Burger is freaking HUGE! You thought Burger King's Whooper burger is big? Look at this!

BIG Right?

Ryan trying to stuff the burger into his mouth

After a super filling meal we started our hike to the Sheares Bridge to get a good view for the fireworks. Guess what? We HOLLANDED (Got lost). Hahahaha getting to the bridge is actally quite a task for first timers. But we have our RECCE commander here so we finally made it to the top facing the Esplande.

Walking on the Expressway....

I've reached!

Took a few testing shots at the city and we found something........

A city night

The Esplanade

We were facing the wrong side!!! It's actually at the opposite site! So we had to head down the bridge again to walk to the other side which is Marina South. Dying of thirst, we went to the bay area for a drink and rest by the shore. It's quite a nice place to chill out there.

By the bay

Finally headed up the the bridge again, this time facing the correct side of the bridge. We then waited for midnight with the rest of the photographers for the fireworks show. Waitign was even more tiring, luckily there's Ryan's mp3 player to keep us awake till 1155 pm. Finally 1159 hrs, rdy the camera. 0000 hrs Boom! first shot of fireworks. Everyone's camera started snapping away and adjusting settings trying to get good shots of the fireworks.

Inital shots of pyrotechnics

Roses are red

Violets are.....violets

Pretty purple fireworks

Somemore.....

The Finale

This time the fireworks were quite far so there was not much excitement there. Maybe we were tired too. Well after the whole event ended, we headed back home for a good night rest.

HAPPY 40th NATIONAL DAY

A Night in Geylang....

Went to Geylang after work with my army coursemates to eat Claypot rice at lorong 33. It's the famous claypot rice in Geylang and you have to reserve a table so that you won't have to wait long for the claypot rice to cook! The Claypot rice is just delicious and we ordered a few side dishes like softshell crabs, toufu and braised duck. The side dishes are damn delicious too! Too bad didn't have any camera to take pictures of these savory dishes.
